The idea of eternal return is the driving force of the hero’s journey seen in Middle Eastern folk tales and Sufi poetry. Such eternal love comes with a heavy burden. Perhaps a sort of sacrifice. Offerings. Suffocation. The hero is off to a self-discovery journey leaving a woman waiting with a heavy heart behind. Passiveness, the act of waiting shapes the woman’s identity. Can the waiting ever be over or is it part of their divine will, if the sole getaway is marriage or death, I'more interested in exploring their stories rather than the heroic journey the men go through in the tales. The body of work exists as an homage and a critique simultaneously, it creates a space to trace back, to examine the rituals and traditions which are still part of our life. Decoration and fiction become forms of escape, the constructed illusionistic worlds are full of longing.
